Trunker with a BC796D

Can I use any Trunker software with the BC796D with out any mods to the scanner? Just by using the RS232 interface from the rear of the scanner?

No, the radio has to have a tap for baseband audio.

If you want to use the BC796 as the data source radio you will need a discriminator tap on it, entailing a voyage into the case.

If you merely want to use it as the target radio (second scanner for voice) in a Trunker set-up then the RS232 works fine, I do it all the time. Just be sure the Remote finction is on and set the trackenv file to BC895.
