Just picked up a BC996xt on ebay. Programmed with with Freescan directly from RadioReference. I could hear the conventional channels I had in there (FD Simulcasts) but I don't get anything on the trunking. Is it the scanner won't do the DE system or is it an antenna issue? I am in South Smyrna near Garrisons Lake. I just updated the firmware to 1.07 version. Any help would be appreciated.

Do you have the Kent Simulcast programmed into your scanner as that will be the site within range for you. I would also check the system you have programmed and maybe edit the system option for ID Scan/Search and change it to ID Search to see if you can pick up any TGIDs. I used ARCXT Software for my BCD996P2, so I can’t comment on Freescan. You should be able to monitor fire and ems for Kent and Sussex counties along with DelDOT and DNREC. DSP and Dover PD are encrypted, so law enforcement is out of the question. Maybe someone else can chime in. Good luck!

Thank you. I am able to hear some stuff now. Before I took the time to start digging into the software and watching even more Youtube videos I wanted to make sure it would even work. I will dig deeper into it tomorrow since I can listen even more while working from home.

Now if it is a "De" system then there MAY be a possibility you would hear it as the small "e" stands for part-time Encryption, usually on-the-fly either by flipping a switch on the radio OR that particular radio doesn't have Encryption strapped to that particular TG like other radios might (older radios, etc).
