Maybe they are only offering Tier 3 to Arab nations.

From albawaba.com Middle East News, July 28, 2009.
Obviously, Motorola changed their mind.

Their original statement was: "We do not believe that Tiers 1 and 3 warrant product development in the short-term."

I'd greatly appreciate if anyone is willing to consider helping me figure out this MPT1327 formatting for my scanner & get back on the scan for local SWRCC. I attempted to call Jeff's number but it seems out of order. Send me an email. B

As stated earlier in the thread. It is possible to listen to MPT1327 trunked system channels on a scanner. To further understand what is going on then software such as Trunkview is in my mind essential.
There is basic help on the software home page (- TrunkView :: MPT1327 Protocol decoder -) and also a yahoo group where users offer support (trunkview : trunkview)

There is no scanner on the market that can trunktrack MPT1327 (follow one conversation while ignoring all other traffic on the system). You can listen to the radio traffic from a MPT1327 system in conventional mode but you cannot pick which user to hear and which to ignore.
There are computer programs that will take the data that comes over the control channel and use that to tell the scanner when to tune to a specific frequency and when to go mute.
Trunkview works very well, I have used it for a 900MHz system and also for a network of 217 & 220 MHz sites. If you go to the Yahoo Group for Trunkview and read through old posts, you can learn what you need to.

I can't answer as I don't know what a PRO-89 can do. Try it, there is nothing to lose as you aren't modifying the radio.

I am not familiar with the PRO-89 either, but to be able to Trunk Track with such programs, the scanner has to be able to be controlled by the computer (ie, told to change to the appropriate Voice channel). The TrunkView website has a list of scanners supported by the program.
