Tried installing the current version of EZ-Scan on two separate computers and both are giving the same result.

When I try to launch the software, they both pop up with "Access violation at address XXXXXXXX in module "TRX-1.exe""

Anyone have a slightly older version of the software installer available for testing? I need to make some changes to my scanner files and this ain't working at all.

TIA

Forgot to mention both boxes are windows 10

Previous reply is no help to someone with a problem. It is working fine for many users, and my 40+ years of teaching computers has given me some insight to helping people with problems.

Tried running installer as admin as well as tried running the currently installed version as admin, both are giving same result.

Also, tried running in compatibility mode, same issue.

Next step is to build a win7 VM and try it under that. Don't want to have to run a VM just for one piece of software, but whatever.

Sometime an OS build does make a difference, at least in my 43 years of experience working in IT. ;)

On a reinstall, you should always uninstall the software and restart the computer. Some programs do not completely uninstall without a clean boot as files from earlier installs are left on the drive that cause a reinstall to fail. This is not always true, but good practice for the program running properly.

My latest install was on a new Windows 10 computer with a clean install (not factory) and all presently available updates. I have it running on both 64 and 32 bit Windows 10 on at least 4 different computers. Did you check what the violation code means for a solution?

Try turning off your virus protection software. I had a problem that the software thought the program was a threat, and removed a file to prevent it from running. I ended up having to remove the protection program and rely on Microsoft Defender because of the number of false positives. Microsoft Defender may give you a false positive, but at least it allows you to run the program. If you downloaded the TRX-1 software from the Whistler site, it is safe to use.

Gave up and tried it on a third machine, clean install of win 10 pro, seems to be working for now.
