They are both "lock outs" in the traditional sense. Skip is easier to quickly toggle via the scanner UI and can be restored (all skipped objects) in bulk. Lock out is toggled on and off one object at a time and is easier via EZ-Scan.

Skip is useful to "shut up" a talkative channel temporarily then quickly reenable the "shut up" channels later.

The only thing that sucks about the skip function which is different than the way Uniden handles it, is that you MUST remember to go into the menu and select "Restore Skipped"; otherwise they remain skipped forever. On Uniden's, powering on and off the unit restores the skipped items, which to me makes much more sense.

Right, that's more similar to Uniden's permanent lockout which you can also clear through menu after. A temporary L/O that resets after power off would've been nice but not too big of an issue.

This is the way the older GRE/RS/Whistler scanners (e.g., PRO-106/197) worked... L/O was temporary until power off/on... Fn+L/O was permanent.

Do you know if the WS1040 does as well? The wiki says its just like the Pro-106
