TRX-1: Trx1 query covert to Trx1(E)

Hi all,

I have a trx1 and would like any info comments on how to covert to a trx 1 (E) Uk edition and use the Uk band plan
Basically i have read when its a trx (e) can find and use more freqs in the uk area as at the moment the band plans are either usa or canada.

So , how would i do this? Would it make any difference and i do need to convert to get better search results in the uk?
Finally , would it brick the unit ?

You would need to find someone with the UK Firmware, and firmware uploader program and over write the USA firmware.

Cheers Raleigh , hmm that another bit of problem then, Just got the trx but at moment its really hard work just figuring out what to do. Going call it a night now , been sitting button pushing and searching every site looking for uk freqs, not much going on here in uk apart from local airport 15mile away.

Wish i had of not scrapped the ubc125 now, it was much much easier.

You'll learn the TRX soon enough, you just need the right firmware. I have not looked but check the pinned post in the Whistler forums for archived software after Whistler shut down and sold itself.

It's the same firmware for all EU countries. You select on the scanner what country setting to use. It's just the bandplan that changes, what stepsize to use for a specific frequency range. The EZ-Scan program are also an E version that needs to be used. I believe I have those, if they are not in that MEGA download file. There are some new features available in the E version that doesn't exist in the US one.

You can freely switch between EZ-Scan versions and load either US or E version of the firmware as you wish.

Hi i read on another post to restore factory defaults , press 0 then 1 , nothing came on my pc or the radio screen

D/Lded ez-scan software installed the needed and avail files. whats next? factory restore defaults?
Not started searching yet and have nothing at all on radio untill get all these settings and bits done.

Think i will move to the states...seems a lot more going on then here in uk.
I have got the ez-scan software somewhere and can not find it , i know it was with those dropbox files i d/l
At moment i am sitting here looking at pc screen reading every post for the whistler. The radio has gone deaf and dumb lol
Another couple of days and it will end in trash can just like the other one.
Gonna call it a day, been on all day , think i will stick with xbox instead lol

As Whistler_Support mentioned you have to, in the EZ-Scan program, got to File/Factory default and start over from scratch to setup you scanning data. You cannot use any saved files from the US version of EZ-Scan. Save files to the folder that matches the version of EZ-Scan you are currently using.

If you in the US version export channel data and scan lists to CSV file types then you can import that into the E version. Then the General and Advanced functions need to be manually set.

Where I live almost all radio users have switched to using apps on mobile phones, that have better coverage and doesn't require you to run or rent a radio site and subscriber radios. In areas that have fully built up cellular systems there are really no reason to use 2-way radios. This year our public safety users are going to move from their trunked digital 2-way radio system to a LTE system that pretty much works like a cellular mobile phone system with texting and access to server based data bases and high speed file transfers.
