Apparently the trooper still use Low band for car to car. I heard one approaching Turner on the Turnpike Dispatch TGID mention when he got closer he’d be on Low Band.
I could hear them (Troop YB) during the snow storm here in the Tulsa area this week while listening
with my TRX-1..and only after selecting CREEK COUNTY, instead of Tulsa county.
For some reason I could not hear them with either my SDS100 or SDS200.

To hear low band OHP, which I have never heard, I am assuming that in order to hear the traffic

Yes, close to a mobile if they are talking car to car. Of course a mast mounted base antenna really helps.
Like others have noted, low band as a dispatch channel seems to have gone the way of the dinosurs? You would have been able to hear the base stations from all over the state.......KKC...eight.....eighty three! HAHHAHAHAHA!
