I try to monitor air freq and have the range set at its max, yet it still tells me nothing in my favorites are within range and will not scan.
Are you using a Favorites list? If so, did you create it manually by entering your frequencies of interest in Sentinel? Or, did you create the list by appending from the main database in Sentinel into a Favorites list?
If you manually created your list, but did not also enter location for the Departments containing your air frequencies of interest, the the scanner will, in effect, ignore those completely, as a "blank" location is off the coast of Africa, in the Atlantic Ocean, You can't extend the range enough to cover that. As
mc48 has suggested, turn off location control completely on your Favorites list (make sure it is selected to be scanned as well as set to be downloaded, in your profile).
Also, as suggested, make sure that you have the correct service types enabled for what you are trying to scan. When your scanner was shipped, as well as when you first install Sentinel, only Public Safety Dispatch service types are active. These include Law Dispatch, Fire Dispatch, EMS Dispatch, and Multi-Dispatch. For Public Safety, also enable the related Tac & Talk service types (i,e, Law Talk, Fire Tac, etc). Not that, by default, Aircraft is not enabled unless you choose to do that before writing a Favorites list to the scanner.
Take a look at the
Nothing to Scan Wiki page. That gives you items to check. Ignore the section labeled as pertaining to DMA scanners. Those do not apply to your HP-2. In the section for the HPx, x36HP and SDS Series, ignore references to Quick Keys; your HP-2 does not have that option.
You might also attach your Favorites list to a post so that we can take a look for anything that is missing, or incorrect. This
Wiki page gives you the steps to do that.
