TVA FREQUENCY

Have come across a P25 Frequency that sounds like it belongs to TVA. Sounds like will possibly be TVA Police.
172.475 with a tone of 303
Hearing traffic from Alabama and Tennessee units.

In Muscle Shoals they are on 171.750 / 303. The dispatch is in Chattanooga. Is it the same there?

I hear Chattanooga and Knoxville dispatch on this frequency.

Good info! I found the 172.475 MHz frequency a couple months ago and after listening a bit, like you, decided it was TVA. While I couldn't find anything in the Alabama frequency database here on RR, I did find this page in the Tennessee database:

I was not able to find a Monte Sano in Tennessee so I believe this is likely Monte Sano mountain in Huntsville, AL as there are a ton of radio installations on Monte Sano, from weather to commercial TV stations.

I mostly heard dispatching from Knoxville but, admittedly, haven't tuned in lately. Everything was on Eastern Time.

I am north of Florence a few miles from the TN state line.
I hear what appears to be LEO on 171.750000, 169.712500, and 163.025000.
Also, I hear communications to all areas of the TVA region on one specific freq.
I haven't monitored them in a while and can't remember the particular one.

The TVA is listed in the TN database under Federal:

172.475 is listed three times for repeaters in Monte Sano, Holston Mtn, and Roosevelt Mtn. 171.750 is the Raccoon Mtn repeater.

I was not aware of these frequencies so I'll program them in and see what I can hear.

This is the way the forum should work. The exchange of info so all scanner enthusiast can enjoy the hobby. Have been on since I listened to my grandparents old crystal controlled bearcat in the early 80s(before programmable was developed) and have followed as I could.
