Two questions about Niagara Falls scanner operations

Is the Niagara Falls City FD on the trunk system, as I do hear some Niagara Falls units on the system for the EMS and a "Niagara Active", or are they on the conventional channels?

Also, with Niagara Falls Transit Authority EDACS system, is there any reason to believe that the system will be replaced by ProVoice, P25, or some other form of digital format, or is NFTA content with the EDACS system?

I only ask these two questions as everything else is pretty much going digital and there is little analog left for major users.

FYI, ProVoice is the digital air interface for EDACS; it doesn't replace EDACS. It's extremely unlikely that they would decide to implement it decades after it was first available. The more logical choice would be to roll out a different type of system (P25, DMR, NXDN, etc.) if they decide to replace the EDACS system.

NFTA has tested SaiaNet extensively in the past two years. Not sure what the status is but BNIA CFR which is a division of NFTA is on SaiaNet and very happy with the system. The EDACS system has ALOT of custom things on it so a replacement system is very complex.

Niagara Falls FD City is primarily conventional as listed in the RRDB. From recent info, while NFTA moved BNIA operations to SaiaNet, no other change to EDACS is pending at this time.

what talk group do they dispatch on? I only see them on a TAC channel

Any info I have seen is dispatch and fire ground operations are conventional and they only have the TAC TG on the P25 system.

Maybe they're coming from the county maybe because the county believe fires dispatched them
