UCA P25 Roadtrip report

I’ve been told that two new trunking sites are planned for remote areas in Millard Co. They are in the site design phase with construction starting this spring. I’m wondering if they will put any Motorola 800 equipment at these sites or jump right to Harris.

Yeah if u have a laptop that u can run while traveling, u can run unitrunker if u have rtl2832 dongles to listen for Motorola edacs ltr mpt1327 or p25 phase one on it or dsdplus which can hear fusion provoice p25 phase 1 and 2 dmr and nxdn also in use with dongles, those give alot of info as well. Including peers to the sites and other stuff as well. But a simple scanner old or new will help as well

Good thing to check on, if u do a general search of 700mhz and 800mhz and see what u can find. With the older version of unitrunker version 1 u can do line in from a tapped older scanner the newer version of unitrunker (v2) may not do line in as easily, that way if u can search the bands it will pickup on those sites and decode them..

Currently the Harris 700mhz UCA p25 systems are decoding on phase 1, we have been told this is temporary and will eventually change to phase 2. So for now unitrunker and dsdplus will both decode them as well as a phase 1 scanner.

Same thing is going on in Nevada as well, they are switching from the Nevada edacs to p25 on the NSRS Nevada sharing repeaters system
