Very interesting! A UHF TRS wouldn't require as many sites as New York or Pennsylvania, but could contain under 50 trunking sites. Hopefully, they will decide to use P-25, since their neighbors to the west in Essex County, NY and the Commonwealth of Massachusetts plan on implementing Project 25 TRSs. Likewise, Quebec already has their VHF P-25 trunking system up and operating. However, I have no idea as to how far along they are with their project across the border in Canada.

More than likely it will be P25, VT has some very good people working for them. depending on their timeline it may be possible that we "might" see a phase 2 system. Hell might have to freeze over for that to happen, but its an interesting thought. The trunking is a natural extension to many of the things they have been doing with their radio system over the last 5 years or so. They have many of the building blocks in place to make it happen already.

To reply to your message Thunderbolt,

Quebec P-25 system is still being implemented.Only Hydro-Quebec is currently using it.Only once the entire system will be finalized, all departements of the Governement of Quebec will be using it.

I thought that this would be the case down the road. This is a really wise move, and would save each user the cost of building their own TRS, rather than going it alone. This is a example of the positive things that can come from sharing agreements. However, this will also mean that scanner listeners will have upgrade in order to catch all the action in the future.

Exactly, anyone scanning in Québec will need to upgrade their scanners. For now,no one has a clue which departement will be using encryption,so far the Surete du Québec(SQ) is expected to use encryption once the system completed. But until then, nobody knows yet.Only time will tell :(
