I'm logging an agency on my 200 using Proscan. Breaking things down by UIDs.....dispatch control radios to individual officer's radios in the field etc. it's pretty fun. The agency's dispatch radios are in the clear but the LEOs in the field are E. I would like to continue to listen to this agency...... because half is better than none. I'm on ID scanning because I know the TG number. Is there a way to avoid certain UIDs so can still listen w/o the gargle. From my understanding you can avoid TGs but not UIDs.

Thanks

No, the 200 doesn't skip encryption. That's why I'm asking the question.
Uhhhhhh...
I think it does.

How Encryption is Handled
  1. Detection:
The scanner uses specific digital markers, like the "ENC" indicator on the display, to identify that a transmission is encrypted.

  2. Skipping:
Upon detection, the SDS200 will stop listening to that particular transmission and automatically continue scanning for other unencrypted signals.

  3. No Audio:
You will not hear any audio from an encrypted transmission

If I'm not mistaken....
Doesn't the 200 just skip encrypted traffic (you don't hear anything...)?
Occasionally, the scrambled audio will slip past the goalie on a partially encrypted TG, so what the OP is saying is indeed true. It also happens from time to time with SDRTrunk. The fully encrypted TG's don't have this issue at all, but here's no reason to even have them in a scan list since they just waste time.

I've thought of this subject from time to time over the years, would be nice! Can't be that hard.

And yes I also have thousands of RIDs :)

Every now and then, when my scanner hits on a talkgroup that uses ADP form of encryption, I'll get a brief burst of noise. Most of the time the scanner is quiet, but I'll still see the display with the stuff you would see for a "regular" channel (tag, Unit IDs). It lasts for perhaps a half second. Will show up in log files.

ADP is used extensively on the system I monitor. AES is for the "higher level" of encryption, like SWAT, Narcs, etc.
