Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Hey all,

Looking for some insight on this issues I’ve been experiencing for a few months. The issue is when a two tone gets detected it triggers the tone like normal but then afterwards it’s just static and there’s no recording log as for some reason it’s not logging the recording.

The system that it’s monitoring is a P25 phase 2 site now I have double checked my settings on PPS and I do have the 2-tone TGID set to record. The dispatch channel is not on P25 but on an analog channel. I have spent a handful of hours trying to research the issue but can’t seem to find anyone that is having similar issues.

The firmware version of the G5 is V1.23 and PPS version 3-16-beta. I know a handful of people in my immediate area are using the same firmware version and PPS version and are not experiencing issues that I have. Does anyone have a bit of insight on what I could maybe attempt doing?

So, all operations are analog and only tones are sent on P25? Are any tones still sent on analog? If you just scan the TG instead of trying to have it alert, how does it behave then? The only thing I can think of is to make sure you have the sub group set up correctly, and have the reset mode set to auto.

Your PPS and firmware are quite outdated, so you may need to upgrade both in order to find more help. Most folks have long since abandoned the older versions, myself included. If you only have a handful of TG's and analog channels, the transition to the latest PPS is quite painless, but will require a firmware upgrade. I can set you up with V1.35 if you choose to go that route. Whatever you do, DO NOT upgrade to any V2.0+ firmware! It is full of bugs, and wreaks havoc on older equipment.

If you don't want to mess around with upgrades, there are a few videos on YouTube that will help.

So just for reference, the county i monitor is a little backwards. So they have analog on for the dispatches on the VHF band and then everything else is then set to the digital Talk Groups. Now when i have this set to open to monitor all dispatches in the county it works fine, but when its on the Selective Call Only it'll alert when the ID match's then it just goes static with no transmission & no recording. I will go ahead and try setting it to Auto reset see if that does anything. If you wouldn't mind sending V1.35 so i can resort to that firmware version if nothing else is working.

It should work if you change the reset mode. I will message you with the V1.35 firmware, but you will also need to use the newer PPS. Once you download and install the new PPS, you can open your current version to use as a template while building your new profile.
