I've had my trunk tracker for two years now and have loved every minute of owning it. But last Sunday it started acting weird all of a sudden. I have the Fulton TRS programmed along with the Alpharetta PD TGIDs. When i press ID Search or ID Scan nothing ever comes up, heres the kicker when i press hold I can now hear people talking on the voice channel but the TGID never shows up. I posted in the GA forum maybe thinking i had programmed something wrong but now I'm worried it might be the unit. Any help is greatly appreciated.

I had a similar problem a few months ago.. I took the radio a part and found out the radio is basically 2
circuit boards.. One is the RF board and the 2nd is the CPU logic board.. The 2 boards connect via a
big connector.. I took the boards a part and reseated the 2 boards again.. After I put it back together
everything worked fine..

As well as not decoding Trunking Talk Groups, it would not decode CTCSS/DCTCSS info in search mode
either.. I can't for sure this is your exact problem, but it's worth a try, unless you don't feel conformable
taking it a part..

Uniden does have a flat rate service to fix it as well.. I think it was like $49-$50..

It sounds like the system may have just rebanded. According to the RR database page fo the Fulton County TRS system, "One or more sites for this trunking system have gone through the 800 MHz rebanding process".

The 246T is capable of scanning rebanded trunking systems, but you must first update the firmware to version 2.06. The firmware update page also contains instructions on how to enter the new custom band plan.

Hope this helps. :)

I was told that if the 4th number after the decimal point is a 5 on all of the frequencies in the system, the firmware upgrade is not needed to receive the rebanded frequencies. It's only required if the 4th number after decimal point is a 0 on one or more of the rebanded the frequencies. On the Fulton County, Georgia, System they're all 5's so you won't need the firmware upgrade. No Custom Band Plan is needed either. Just program the new rebanded frequencies in place of the old ones and you should be good to go.

The New Jersey State Police 800 System (4th number after decimal is 5 on all frequencies) was rebanded
and I just entered the new frequencies in my 785D (which cannot be firmware upgraded for reband) and I receive it fine.

The Fulton County system was rebanded 2 years ago. The OP is having another issue with the scanner. Appears he is getting more localized help in the Georgia forum.

I read up on the rebanding thats why i came to the Uniden forum. My radio worked just fine last week, we had bad storms here Sunday night and it hasn't worked since then.

I seriously doubt your issue has anything to do with rebanding, given the system was rebanded 2 years ago and you've been listening just fine the entire time. It could be possible that the local site is having problems related to the storm. Have you tried to monitor all the frequencies in conventional mode? Are you hearing the "machine gun" noise on the active control channel, or are you only hearing the radio transmissions on the voice channels? If you can't hear a control channel, then the scanner has no way to properly trunk track the system.

Yea i was pretty sure it didn't have to do with rebanding. I do however hear voices on the voice channels and "guns" on the control channel. I didn't try the conventional idea cause its a MOT system. Is that to just test the scan function?

Well, by asking if you listened to them in conventional mode, I just meant did you put the scanner in search mode or manually dial in each frequency to see if you can hear anything. If you say you hear voices on the voice channels and the digital signal on the control channel, then I guess you've already checked each frequency. Are you getting everything loud and clear? You need a fairly strong signal on the control channel frequency for the scanner to decode it properly.
