Can anyone help me out. A friend of mine, retired officer, just received a 396T with the programming software as a retirement gift. I have no clue how to program it yet but I am working on learning.

Does anyone have any files for Louisville Metro area, KSP, ISP-Safe T and anything else that might be interesting to a retired officer. Surrounding areas as well.

Thanks in advance for all information shared.

Doug I don't want to dissuade you from doing a favor for a buddy, but these new DMA scanners cannot be so easily programmed. You need to understand how to set up the systems, program quick keys and so forth. As you've discovered, this is a totally new animal. No banks...

There is an 'easier to read' manual for the 396 that might be a good place to start. It's linked in the 'related pages' section of this article

The Yahoo group for the 396 does have some Indiana UASD files, but it doesn't look like it has anything for Kentucky.

Much as I hate to suggest this, it might be better to ship the radio off to one of the programming services, as found on this article

Doug-

I can fix you up, but the rest of the week is very hectic. It might work out if we got hooked up at the fire station sometime, and I can program his 396.

Chief, let me check with him and that might work for him to get started. He ordered the cable and program and is waiting for it to come in...But you know how them retired Police are....LOL...

I may email you next week and see how things look.

Thanks for the offer.

Also, Al, I got your files and sent them to him. Hopefully he can figure it out but see the comment above about retired po-po...

Thanks for everyones help.

Doug
