Hi all,
Wasn't sure where to post this as it's a hybrid unit. I am trying to figure out which antenna my weather stations receive on? Is it the CB antenna or the scanner antenna? Any help would be appreciated.

You are getting the weather on your Scanner antenna. CB antennas are resonate at 27 MHz. Since the Weather frequencies are 162 MHz it has to be your scanner antenna.

I'm curious would other cb's with weather have a built in antenna for weather stations or how does that work?

They usually use the CB antenna.

Works OK, but like mentioned above, a CB antenna is resonate at 27MHz. NOAA weather radio is 162MHz. The non-resonate antenna works OK, but a proper VHF antenna would work better (but suck for CB use…)

That is the thing the 885 has a scanner and a cb both on their own antenna. That's why I'm trying to figure it out.

OK.
n1chu covered it above. On that specific radio that has a scanner and a CB in the same box, the NOAA weather radio uses the scanner antenna. The CB uses the CB antenna.

On the radios that do NOT have a built in scanner, just the NOAA weather channels, it uses the CB antenna. Not perfect, but falls into that "good enough" category that pleases most consumers.

Awesome,
I really appreciate it. I just wasn't sure how they would have it set up but that would make sense.
Thanks for the reply

Incase anyone wants to know or even care the uniden 885 recieves it's NOAA broadcast from the CB antenna not the scanner antenna. Reached out to Uniden and that's what they told me.

Well idk why they told you that as it doesn't. I have one in my truck, using the stock wire on the scanner side and NO antenna on CB side and I get weather just fine. If it came through on the CB antenna, without one hooked up, I wouldn't get it. (I just have a dummy load on the CB side in case mic got bumped)

You could simply remove one antenna at a time and prove or disprove it yourself you know.
