I recently got this scanner for use in the Iosco County Michigan area. I have been told that it is not the right radio for this area, but I have no idea. Can anyone point me in the right direction to get this thing working? Thanks.

hi michigan public safety requires a p25 digital scanner. . a pro 96 is a excellent choice. or a 396t is also a good scanner

cmu - it depends on what you want to monitor... Tell us and we can answer. According to the database here only Law Enforcement requires digital, fire and public services and everything else can be received by your scanner.

I work for a newspaper and I pretty much want to monitor all the radio traffic with the public agencies in the county. We have scanners at work which seem to do that, so they must be p-25 or whatever. I bought the scanner as a convience thing for me, so I could leave one at home and have the other at work.
