remtronix 800 mhz is a good replacement for the original antenna.

It is if you are scanning 700 and 800 MHz frequencies. It will work OK with UHF, but poorly with VHF.
As was pointed out, it's based on what you want to listen to, frequency wise. Let us know that and we can recommend things for you.

A decent all rounder is the Watson WSMA-801, in my opinion.

If you want the original replacement the aforementioned www.scannermaster.com sell it. Same thing happened to me and I got a replacement from them.

396T uses an SMA connector, otherwise with many antennas use a BNC, so you would need to use the SMC-BNC adapter if you get one with a BNC connection.
