Hi all, I recently purchased a Uniden 436HP. I have some programming questions.

I have assigned quick keys to my favorites. When I am using the radio how do I toggle favorites on and off as I need them?

I would like to set some systems to ID search, not seeing how to do that in Sentinel.

For an upcoming trip to New York I wanted to make a new profile. My current normal profile is called Active Profile.
The new profile is called New York. When I created the new profile it had all of my favorites from the active profile. I said ok, so I created my NY favorite and loaded the frequencies. Then I deleted all of my other favorites. All looked ok. Then I went back to my Active profile and all my favorites were gone, just my NY favorite. This was upsetting. I thought a new profile would be a clean slate. What am I doing wrong?

Thanks folks

Sorry you had to find that out the hard way, but all is not lost.
Favorites Lists are common across all profiles. What the different profiles allow is the ability to download & monitor FL's which are different than what is downloaded/monitored in other profiles. You still have to keep them in Sentinel, but you can choose not to download them into a particular profile. (You don't need a FL for Chicago if you're going to New York, so set it to "Download > Off")

If those other FL's are still in your radio, as long as you didn't "Write to Scanner" after those lists deleted in Sentinel, just do a "Read from Scanner" and that will recover all those previous Favorites Lists. It will, however, wipe out any new ones you programmed in Sentinel since the last "Write".

Now to your first question: The FL you want to turn on needs to be set to "Download On" and "Monitor On" in the Favorites List Editor. On the radio, press the Menu button, and go to "Select Lists to Monitor", scroll to that FL, and make sure it is "On". Exit the menu, then press the Quick Key for that FL, then press "E".

Second issue: In the Favorites List Editor, select the system you want and click the "Options" tab. On that page there is an option marked "ID: Search"; set that to "On".

Thanks much, that helps. Another question. Is the ARC536 software good for the 436? I am familiar with their software. I use Arc500 for my pro-106.

Someone else will have to answer that, as I have no experience with ARC536. There are people on here who swear by it, though.
And you are very welcome. You'll have to redo that NY FL from scratch, but it's most likely a mistake you won't make twice!

From the ARC536 notes on the Butel website:

With the ARC536 software you expand the functionality of your Uniden BCD436HP, BCD536HP and SDS scanners

But be sure to check out ProScan software at this link:

Thanks all, you have given my great info. I am an old-timer also, been scanning since the 60's. These new scanners can be confusing.

I am right there with ya! To say that the new scanners have a learning curve is putting it mildly! Hang in there, though; They have capabilities that we couldn't dream of back in the day.
