I was wondering how every one else programs there scanners to listen to the ORSP trucked system. I have a uniden 536 scanner which is my base radio. I live in la pine and I have MT bachelor, Wampus butte and walker mtn has the repeaters programmed. I was wondering is this system a simulcast type system and if I just listen to say mt bachelor would I miss communications on the system. I was wondering if anyone had any tips on the best way to be able to listen to this system. I was scanning multiple sites but it seems like I keep missing parts of communications because the scanner was scanning a different repeater and I was wondering is wampus butte a fill in site. any ways any info on this new system is appreciated. Also I have not heard Bend Fire at all so I wonder if I need to be scanning the awbrey butte site as well.

Thanks

The OSRP and the Deschutes Co P25 systems are linked together. That being said, they're not a "simulcast" system. A radio has to be affiliated to a particular talkgroup on a particular site. So with you listing to Wampus, you're only going to hear traffic when a radio is affiliated to that specific talkgroup on that site. Another way of saying it, is why transmit on a site if nobody is listening. As an example, it appears that LifeFlight is defaulted to Cline Butte, I frequently hear them on that site but almost never on Awbrey, even when they land at St. Charles in Bend, they are affiliated to Cline. At this point you do need to have multiple sites programmed in your scan list. I would imagine when Deschutes Co switches to P25 for fire, you'll probably be able to hear most fire activity on Wampus or Sugarpine as someone from Sunriver or La Pine will have a radio affiliated and those sites will broadcast the Dispatch or OPS frequencies.

You might want to follow this thread on the foums about the OSRP/Deschutes P25.
