Here are some features I really appreciate about the SDS100:
  • The customizable color display is fantastic, especially being able to set different background color alerts for specific service types—it’s such a convenient and thoughtful feature.
  • I also value the built-in database, which is frequently updated. Even though I still subscribe to RRDB and use ProScan to manage my favorites, having the built-in database is incredibly handy. It allows me to quickly access local signals when traveling across the USA or Canada without needing extensive programming on a PC.
  • Another standout feature is its ability to handle Simulcast signals, which, as far as I know, is unique to this scanner. This capability was a major reason I chose the SDS100, especially since my area transitioned to full Simulcast for public service frequencies like Police and Fire, and my BCD325P2 struggled to keep up--so I had to upgrade. My only concern is the possibility of my county fully encrypting its communications someday—that would be a disappointing day for both me and my SDS100.

I really like the color display. And on the sentinel programing it makes it so easy and so many variations or combinations. If you are thinking about the sds-100 take the plunge you won't REGRET THIS...Just my onion..

I have had this scanner for 15 days. What a scanner. The scanner allows you to really customize it. I have a FM radio on custom search button 1. I have local airport frequencies on quick key set up buttons. I have frms and Murs and grms frequencies on quick key set up buttons. I have color display set up. The sentinel programing works great and learning curve is not hard at all. There are plenty of you tube video's check out boy and a scanner and zip scanner and Bearcat Warehouse video's..I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS SCANNER..ANY HELP I CAN GIVE JUST ASK....

What a scanner.
Yes, lots of functions and features, the exact same as 436/536/3600 or whatever Unidens other SD card scanners are called. But those can't handle simulcast systems but have instead a much better receiver, so choose scanner wisely depending of how and where you are going to use your scanner.

I've had my SDS100 for a week now. Fantastic radio...except....it did the no signals received thing. Reloaded the database...tried WX scan...ran the analyze function all with same results. It leaves today going to the Uniden repair facility. I had been really impressed with the radios performance on analog and digital. I have many simulcast sites in my area and worked beautifully. Luckily,I still have other scanners to lean on,but am missing already. I'll keep yall posted on this common issue with the SDS 100.

Update on repair. It came home on the 17th of this month. Fast turn around time! Repair noted "resolder solder joints". Great communications with the Flower Mound crew. All is well now.

Oh well. Update on the repair. Worked as it should for a week, then the original issue came by along with the vol/multi-function knob not working. Sent it back agian on March 7 after a great conversation with Ken in Flowermound. I'll keep you posted on this issue.

The control knob as well as the receiver data goes thru that connector that have had cold solder issues that JoeBearcat said was fixed in production in 2024. Was it a "shelf warmer" you received with an older date in its serial number?
