UniTrunker Question?

OK i have a taped radio, ran Unitrunker and put the radio on a control channel and it come up with more freqs but....my question is what the point of this program, what exacttly does it or supposed to do(in NEWBE terms), ive read the manual but just dont quite understand

and is is supposed to display the names of talkgroups, channels, and etc or do you have to program those in? and if so, whats the point?

you are watching the system activity. The purpose may be entertainment, research, testing, IDing new system types, finding other freqs on a system, etc.
All text has to be entered by you. If you are monitoring a system that someone else tracks, they MAY share files with you. They can represent a large amount of work or may contain info from sources in a radio shop so don't be offended if someone says no.
The best thing to do is to let the setup run unattended 24/7. When you can sit and add users as they talk either write them down or type them in. I find I need to write them down first so I made a quick sheet with columns to fill in. This way I can make notes etc. Talkgroups can be added as soon as they get a hit (you can add them manually but for a beginner it is not advisable) and you know the TG users.
The files are edited in a basic word processor such as notepad or wordpad. If you use MS Word, be sure to save as plain text files.
