Unitrunker XML to Excel Conversion

I have a question regarding if there is a way to convert a XML file to a Excel file to add a swath of radio ID's into Unitrunker without having to spend hours on hours of manually importing them in the Unitrunker software.

Looking to see if anyone has any instructions or step by step to how to accomplish this.

Unitrunker v2 exports systems to CSV. This is a great feature. However, I don't think it can import from CSV, which is a major drawback.
I manually modified the CSV file it created, then wrote a formula in a new cell to take the contents of the User ID section and convert it into raw lines of XML code.

Then i opened the XML file in a text editor, and pasted the code from LibreOffice (that I was using to edit the CSV file).
It took a while - I had over 26,000 User ID lines I was working with. But it got the job done.

If anyone knows a better way, I would love to hear about it!

Thanks for the info. There a way of downloading V2? I signed up for the Google groups, the only thing I can see in there’s just a big chat room…. I didn’t specifically see a spot for downloading

Yes, it is now publicly available.
Head to http://unitrunker.com/v2/ where and old school frames site will load up. At the top of the 3rd frame, on the right hand side, you'll see icons for facebook & google groups. The next one, a floppy disk icon, takes you to the download page.

Click "download latest" from there and you'll be in business.

Thanks just downloaded. I will have to play with it here to get setup. I noticed that the new version isn't detecting my Pro 197 Scanning under the Radio Tab, any tips?

You need sdr dongles.

Exactly. I've only ever used SDRs with Unitrunker.

If you only have a scanner you are limited to the older V1, V2 only accepts SDR dongles.

Okay, thanks for the info, I will look into ordering dongles, in the meantime, I will use the newest version for making mass edits then back to my V1 to upload what I need to do.

If you do a search on the Internet for xml to Excel converters there are lots. Don't know if they will help you. Bob.

One caveat with exporting CSV: there is no function to import back into Unitrunker (v2).

There is an export function but no import function. Unsure as to why.

Unless you convert CSV to xml. You can import xml files.

for adding user id's or groups to a unitrunker file you might want to try out Notepad ++ it's a free program and it's very stable and easy to use
