I was sent this capture on a P25P2 system

Anyone know what Algo this is? The system is also using AES(ALGID 25).

The signal is super strong and this is not a false decode.

ki4hyf hit it on the head. Its not a capture of a ALGID or KID. It is user entered description information. When I requested the full set of DSD files. I saw this in the groups.

P25, BEE00.CD8, 2, 50, Normal, 28, 2026/02/11 16:38, "ALGID 0A KID 1000 Radio Testing"

I guess never believe everything you read. Thanks everyone for clearing up this mystery.

Anyone ever see a P25P2 DES transmission? it would be nice to nail down the algid for that. I have never seen DVI or GSM on the air.

Taken from a P25 P2 system. KID changed to protect the innocent (me). This was captured by FME. I don't think I have any DSD+ logs of DES56-OFB.

I would love to look at some captures. ADP is odd these days, why would they use it? (other than economics of avoiding the expense of getting licenses for the better stuff, plus hardware support).

A LOT of agencies, especially on statewide or large regional systems, historically ordered (and sometimes still order) radios with only ADP, because it costs more per radio for AES. At least with Moto & Harris, ADP comes "free" out of the box. The question is probably asked along the lines of "do we REALLY need AES, at the cost of $xyz more per radio?" Oftentimes the answer is no.

Furthermore, if you're an agency that currently uses ADP (or no ENC) and you share dispatch channels with several nearby agencies, in order to switch to AES, EVERYONE using that channel may have to fork out $$ to upgrade features/flashcodes in their radios, even though the radios "already work just fine".

In general, I suspect AES is more commonly used in big metro areas, especially where the jurisdiction owns/controls their own radio system and has more $$ to spend.

That right there is the reason why none of the medical channels are encrypted in Maryland. The cost of paying for an encryption license for every ambulance and portable radio in the State that handles EMS in any way would be crazy
