Here are the Camp Peary frequencies I have monitored in the past. These listings are probably 2 years old but the users should be valid. In addition to the typical facilities listed the CIA Agents Training School also will be included. Part of their training involves map reading and using GPS for the exercise to the various way points to the end objective with the winner finished in the fastest time. Interestingly, instructors were stationed nearby out of sight because of student safety concerns. On occasion the student misreads the GPS and wanders off the required route and wanders into the woods.

I do have the same Camp Peary frequencies which can be printed in MS EXCEL but not appropriate for this situation because they are mixed in with James City county frequencies.

This editing software has some constraints. Because the record's data fields being different lengths; the entire record cannot display on the monitor as one a one line complete record, although the data fields are synced correctly each to their appropriate record line.

Use this data field format example to relate to the file's subsequent data fields for each appropriate record shown on attachment 1 part 1 and part 2:

In order to sync attachment 1 (first part of the appropriate record line number)=
FREQ1, FREQ2, T(TYPE), SERVICE, CALL, USER :
UNKNOWN-T 170.5250-R P(P25) FED , CIA ESCORTS

In order to sync attachment 2(second part of the appropriate record line number)=
CITY, COUNTY, B(BASE), M(MOBILE, R(REPEATER), F(FIXED), PL(NAC)
CAMP PEARY JAMES CITY , M, R , , ,

John:)

Likely Camp Peary. 173.0625 is even listed as a conventional P25 frequency in the database.

Dave

One has to wonder as it is well-know who Cp. Peary is, why the database says it is Army military. Not even a band the Army now uses.

Maybe because the entire Camp is DoD, with other DoD activities. Camp Peary - Wikipedia
Other DoD installations have frequencies in VHF, such as Camp Pendleton in CA (148-150.9, 163 MHz).

What DB ??
I see it as CIA Training Facility for the old Conventional channels and only Camp Peary for the TRS, nothing about Army nor DoD

Of course I read the wiki long ago. The *property* (Navy, not Army) may be but most operations there are not DOD. Saying the entire Camp is DoD is extremely misleading at best. You do realize that names of places are sometimes covers. Note I meant to say that new frequencies are not being assigned to DOD in the 162-174 MHz. I challenge you to find one DOD trunk in that range--just being "at" a military base does not count.

Many government sensitive operations occur at locations identifying them as another operations or even a non-government entity (as a rented facility) and it would be foolish to identify the operation of these as the entity by the owner of the property (particularly when it rented from a rental company).

I don't believe I ever said that new trunked frequency assignments were being made in 162-174 to DoD activities. And the real estate of the entire Camp IS DoD. [Camp Peary Armed Forces Experimental Training Activity (AFETA)]. Yes, there are non-DoD tenants. Yes, the subject trunked system appears to be not a DoD system. I was merely offering an answer to your question as to why the listing appeared as a DoD system in the database.

One frequency I'd love to folks to watch in that area is 395.600 FM. So far, have heard it as clear P25 NAC $293. There's not a lot of traffic. Could be Camp Peary, Cheatham Annex or YNWS AFAIK. Have heard it strongest near Cheatham Annex and the new State Park that just opened across the river.

I did not mean to imply that you said "trunked" but that helps somewhat to sort new systems out from old. I could have said "new systems" but then it would be hard to know they were actually new or "just now discovered". As I mentioned, real estate does not mean much--it is more who occupies it otherwise, a lot of FB

For some reason, the tail of my last post got dropped. The last sentence was:As I mentioned, real estate does not mean much--it is more who occupies it otherwise, a lot of FBI and other agencies would be listed as the private entities that own the property of the office or repeater.

380/390 is not my normal area to monitor, due to limited systems in my regular monitoring range, but wouldn't 395 be the input to 385 ??

Anything heard on the potential output ?

FM or P25 (you said both). I assume you meant P25. I have never seen a DOD user on their trunks use N293. And it is not one of the squad frequencies. From locations you mention, and the likelihood it is low power, Cheatham Annex seems most likely.

I suspect that the freq is conventional, not positive whether repeater or simplex at this point. Heard clearest from the state park, which is directly across the river and just about equidistant from YNWS and Cheatham--and which also enjoys some elevation. Am particularly curious to know if it's active when there's nothing docked at YNWS. There's a crane ship that's been docked at Cheatham for a month or so, but they use 457.600 simplex.

If LMR, 395 would be the input to 385, but it sounds like it's probably the reverse.
