Just because the voice is P25 doesn't mean the system is P25. I could be a Motorola Type II system using P25 voice. Run Unitrunker on the CC to get the system type and SID.

Alright well, take a look at some of the Motorola Type II systems nearby that use P25 voice and match those frequencies, then figure out if you're hearing one of them.

The Nashville/Davidson County system looks like a good match, two of the frequencies at least, and they use P25 voice. 40 miles isn't that far if the conditions are right.

how can you tell if they use p25 voice with the motarola? also ive been deocding some nexedge and x2 tdma while search freq unknown on them, but i have heard that my locals are switching to nextedge next year so could be them, my local pd, and fire are supposed to be switching to a new system also thats unknown at this time for them. it might be over 40 miles i live at the very far end of town from them and im only using a 800 mhz antenna also, i pulled up their feed online here and i couldn't get a match, but then again i am not decoding very well at all, only bits and peices very broken up

I can pick up frequencies 100 - 150 miles in one direction with a diamond handheld antenna in the house. In the opposite direction I can pick up 40 miles towards Knoxville and that is with a big hill in the way. You picking up Nashville is definately within the realm of possibility and especially with the 800 mhz antenna in the 800mhz range.

Nashville sits down in a valley from where you are at and there are plenty of mountains north of Nashville to put a repeater site which would make it closer if that is where they are.
