I am trying to program my BCD996XT and am coming across what appears to be two unusual but possibly related issues. First, I make a new conventional system, group and then go about entering the frequencies as instructed in the manual, and it works, with the system present in the systems list. The problem is, there seems to be no way to get to the system to scan it. The scanner appears to be "locked" on the Alaska preprogrammed system. Pressing Scan/Search does nothing, and you have to turn the dial 3 to 4 times just to get it to the next preprogrammed system.

On the bottom of the display it has 1*********. I try pressing 1 to take the quick key off, and it does nothing as it just reappears seconds later. Right now I am in the process of deleting all of the preprogrammed data, but there has to be an easier way?

If you don't program a Quick Key, you won't have to use them. for starting out, I recommend you not use them. You can learn and add them later.

If you don't want to scan the Alaska System, press FUNC L/O L/O and it will permanently lock it out (until you unlock it manually or via software).

There are two ******* lines - Systems and Groups. Which one were you quoting?
