PSR-800: Updating/Saving To Archive

Hey folks ~ Something just occurred to me while doing my library updates to my 800... after you're done doing all the db update and then updating your stored data, are you supposed to go to the "save to archive" in the file menu and do that? Or is that just an added "precautionary" type thing to do? Not sure why I just thought of that. I'm pretty sure everything has been updating/working properly but I suppose I would have to actually go through and monitor every list and compare.

I'm guessing the saving to archive is only for changing things with and within your own "personalized" stuff.

The "Save to Archive" option doesn't save the Library. It only saves the programming, e.g., the Trunk Systems/Talk Groups, Conventional Frequencies and most Settings. I only use the "Save to Archive" option when i make changes to the programming. If you want to back up the Library, I'd suggest making a backup of the SD Card. I do have a backup of my SD Card, however I don't feel it's that important since I could always format a new SD Card, download the latest Library and then restore my programming from one of my Archives.

The EZScan software is not the most intuitive software ever issued. To expand on what RDGDigital has said it helps to know where the program is saving things. As was said Save To Archive makes a backup copy of your configuration only. Thus if you trash your Talkgroups, setttings etc. you can restore all that From Archive. However, I have experience issues with the Restore From Archive so I make a copy, in a separate directory I have created on my hard drive, for the EZScan file directory. Everytime you make any entry in EZScan it updates the "EZ Scan Digital" directory that is stored in Documents and Settings\My Documents\EZ Scan Digital. By copying that directory to another "Backup" directory you can save your Config + Library.

While there are some EZzscan users here... what is the meaning of trunking tables on the site options section of the trunked systems page.

Specifically what is the difference between "Auto fill" vs standard or custom. Appears to apply only to P25 systems. I've only needed to modify Motorola tables for rebanding in the past. Why would you have a standard or custom P25 table for a site?

I thought all that info is included in and controlled by the control channel as opposed to set up in radios like Motorola sites.

Not all P25 control channels transmit the identifier tables, thus the need for the custom table setting.
