It also adds the capability to receive P25 Phase 2 (instead of only phase 1)

The PSR-800 was already P25 Phase 2 capable through a firmware update. You may be thinking of the Radio Shack Pro-18. That scanner was only Phase 1 capable and the upgrade adds both Phase 2 and DMR.

I got the scanner back from whistler seems to work. If i want to clear the scanner and start from scratch what is the best way to do it.. Again thanks for all the great advice also if i want to great radio referance to update lists how is this done..

You do not need to clear the scanner, when you create the new programming you just over write the existing. You do not use Radio Reference to program the scanner, you use the WS1080 EZ Scan software available free on the Whistler Download page.

Make sure you go to updates tab at the top and choose "Check For Library Update". This is the RR database updated in the software weekly by Whistler, you must download the updates manually. Then you can program the scanner.

The attached file will help you, it says TRX-1 but it is the same for the WS1080 which is what your scanner is now.
