Thanks I was going to get sds100 at zipscanners.com but at 800.00 that's crazy. My psr-800 is working but not correctly. So I am hoping this upgrade will help.

Your PSR-800 becomes a WS1080. You use WS1080/WS1088 EZ-Scan to update your firmware and library. The upgrade also adds DMR. There are numerous reports of improvement of the scanner performance. How is your PSR-800 not working correctly?

Yes and No...You can not download directly from RR, however, the radio Reference database is downloaded by Whistler on a weekly basis and you update the EZ Scan database from Whistler. It contains all the RR information from the date Whistler downloaded it (meaning if you download the database on Friday and a frequency is added on Saturday it won't be there until the next Whistler update). It is your responsibility to update the EZ Scan database, it doesn't do it automatically.

While the below is for the TRX-1 the software for the WS1080 works the same way, maybe this will help you.

o_O Um, help me if I have forgotten but... Is the EZ-Scan different for the cloned (upgraded legacy scanners) WS1080, or is it the same? I keep forgetting if it is, please forgive me if this has been covered before. Maybe, it is the location of filed for the legacy radios, I just cannot remember right lately. Thanks guys n gals! o_O

What exactly is the 1080 upgrade going to do to my GRE psr-800. Is this a software thing or more replacing physical parts. Any one know. Thanks
Probably a great question to ask before you send it in :) That said, some of it was mentioned earlier, it adds conventional DMR capability, improves reception (in most cases), and allows you to use the WS1080 firmware and DSP upgrades, programming software and weekly database updates for programming.

It also adds the capability to receive P25 Phase 2 (instead of only phase 1)

I’m in Canada, I’ve sent my psr-800 for this upgrade (it took just under 1 month back and forth, not bad), the result is beyond my expectation, I strongly recommend doing this upgrade.

My psr-800 2 weeks ago was working great. Now not so great.I live in Niles Michigan South end and I am not recieving berrien county sheriff south and north any more and alot of other police departments. Niles police is gone. I have tried reprogramming and it hasn't seem to fix issue. I was wondering did berrien county sheriff change towers or something else .

If you attach your current PSR-800 configuration file, I will be happy to take a look at it while you are waiting for the upgraded scanner.
