URGENT: In FL can I tune in a local FM/AM radio station?

Just as the title says.
I'm in Tampa FL and before loosing all power I would like to know if I can tune in a local FM/AM radio station on my handheld so that I can keep up with the status of Irma.

If yes, please list exact instructions.

What scanner model is it? There are a few scanners that can receive FM broadcast, but usually not the AM broadcast band.

Well, he mentioned his "handheld", so perhaps this is for a handheld scanner? But without knowing which model it is, I don't see how we can help.

Looking at the specs online, it does not have the ability to receive AM / FM broadcast frequencies. Another option is to listen to NOAA on 162.550 or 162.450 MHz.

The PRO-651 model of scanner does not receive the AM or FM band.

I would try searching 450-451 MHz and possibly you will pick up a relay of a radio station or TV station with live audio.

I would suggest that at your first opportunity you buy a battery operated AM/FM radio for the future.
