Can the Garmin USB Cable PART NUMBER 010-10723-15 be used with the Uniden SDS100 for charging and programming?

Are the pinouts the same?

I'm not familiar with that specific cable, but I believe that the Garmin devices use a standard USB cable. I use this adapter to power my SDS100 as well as one of my other scanners (usually, a 436HP).

Unless you already have that specific cable, there are a number of much cheaper cables on Amazon that work perfectly well. Here's a 3 foot one that I use that works well.

Looking at a Garmin compatible cable on Amazon, the description notes that the same cable will work for other devices, like Canon PowerShot cameras, that I know use standard USB min cables.

Ageed! Thankfully the SDS100 and other Uniden scanners don’t require a proprietary USB cable for charging or data use.

Anybody using an aftermarket right angle cable for the SDS200? I got one recommended by someone on the newsgroups but it won’t program… I suspect the pin-out is wrong, whoever recommended it didn’t realize it until after he posted and was embarrassed to post the correction. It was an Amazon purchase. I want one (I guess it would be a left hand angle?) that plugs into the scanner with a 90 degree turn to the left, in front of the radio… not out to the side.

Ok! Thanks. I think I found a right angle adapter on Amazon. I’ll just use my original cable. That will take care of any pin-out questions…

Can you post a link to the Amazon page. Maybe it's a power only cable or a faulty cable.

The Garmin cable will work fine... I have one (From an old NUVI unit I have) and have used it on my BCD436HP and my SDS 100 at times...
Those cables are used for firmware updates, map updates etc on the GPS units...

But I sure wouldn't pay that price for it...
The cable that @hiegtx linked to (Monoprice) are well built and well worth the price, as in alot cheaper... Those are the ones I've been using...
You can buy several Monoprice cables for what you would pay for one of the Garnin cables...

Yup, that’s my take also. But the SDS200 is not like the SDS100 in that respect… it doesn’t take external power through the cable…

On a "power only cable" there are no data lines, so it will not work if trying to program either model.

So... on an SDS100, you can power but not program. On an SDS200, a power-only cable is completely useless.

Exactly my point JoeBearcat. Thanks for your confirmation. A suggestion for you… if you are going to comment on a previous post such as mine, it would be helpful if you refereed to the post, identifying which post you were replying to with your confirmation or question. I’m not saying you were replying to my post per se, I don’t know… but it sure would be helpful if you referred to me if you were.

Usually when I don't quote a post, my post is general in nature. In this case, I did quote yours so I was replying directly to it.

I don’t see where you quoted my post, at least not verbatim (which is what I equate a quote to). But you did confirm my take on it and again, I thank you for it. I like to acknowledge previous posts that I might choose to add to so I give honorable mention to them. Tthe suggestion is valid.
