• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

I've recently purchased an XPR4550, and I've been unsuccessful in trying to program it. I keep getting the error, "USB Device not Recognized; The last USB device you connected to this computer malfunctioned, and Windows does not recognize it." I've tried downloading and reinstalling some drivers, however those haven't successfully resolved the issue. My XPR7550e has had some issues, but I am still able to program it without much issue. Is there anything that I'm missing?

Do you have another programming cable?

It's been a bit since I've programmed Trbo. Is this the error that can be overcome by going into Administrator Mode (or what it's called)?
Or am I thinking of something else?

It might be a Windows error of some sort, the cable itself is not being recognized in my device manger. I'm unsure as to if I'm missing a driver or what

Try turning your WiFi off. The CPS is looking for a network connection. Once connected to the radio, give it enough time for the New Network screen to pop up.

I was able to try, unfortunately with no luck. It's still giving me the same error so I'm unsure as to where to proceed

That's probably your issue. Is it a front cable or a rear cable?

For what it's worth, I purchased an aftermarket USB cable for the front connector, could never get it work with XPR mobiles, but have had zero issues with APX/XTL mobiles. Ended up getting a USB cable for the rear XPR connector an that has been trouble free.

I’m hoping that fixes the issue, thank you for your help

Same issue for me. I couldn't get my aftermarket cable working and I almost got a rear cable but was able to find a cheap OEM cable on ebay for just about the same price so I went with that instead.
