Can anyone help me out on how to make a USB sound card the main sound card on linux? My sound card ony laptop has gone hay wire and won't work and I would like to make an USB sound card as the default sound card. I am a Linux virgin and am not very good with the programing. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

little help...

I have not tried using an USB sound card before on Linux, but would imagine most distro would support it. One thing I would suggest IF your BIOS can disable the old card then do that. It may make life easier. Other questions for you; what flavor of Linux are you using. Are you using the GUI or strictly command line interface? Here is a link as an example of what I would search.

ubuntu usb sound card - Google Search
