Using "low profile" antennas are usually going to give you "low profile" results. If you are operating in an area which doesn't need an antenna at all, you should be good. o/w they are crap.

Thanks for the input.

Would you have any suggestions for a professional looking 800mhz antenna?

I don't want a radio shack brand, im looking for a nice hole mounted antenna.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

That's not completely true.

I run both a Low Profile 800MHz antenna (Drilled) with an NMO hook-up and a UHF Shark Fin in my car for two scanners. I get BETTER 800, UHF & VHF reception than with a Shack "All Band" Whip antenna. And my receive performance on 800 is Better with a low profile than with an 800 curl stainless steal antenna. Truth be known, Shark fin "low profile" rate 4 to 7 dbgain. Where a unity gain wire has virtually none.

Oh, just for argumenative sake. I have a cushcraft 800 Mhz. curl steal antenna that does Better on a scanner with VHF than even a 1/4 wave VHF antenna by maxrad or Com-Telco.

Can you link me to a site that sells what you have that works?

Thanks :)
