I want to install a switch close the battery to kill power to my accessories (I have dual batteries) -- I have a motorcycle starter relay that can handle the draw/amperage - but I'm wondering if it can handle a "constant on" situation -- or if they're just engineered for "momentary activation".

Don't know about your specific relay but the old Motorola trunk mount (think tube type) use a starter type relay in much the same configuration. I would think that a relay rated for 60+ amps starting should be able handle anything you would hang on it.

Cool -- I'll give a try -- worst case is it fails and I buy a relay -- Just trying to save a few bucks and use some of the stockpile of stuff I have saved over the years....

Thanks

There are relays that look exactly like starter relays but are used for switching relays--a starter relay will burn out the coil if left energized for awhile. Just check at an auto parts store.
