I'm looking to set up two antennas at my house - one discone for omni-directional aircraft reception and one yagi for directional control tower reception. Is it logical to send the signals from both antennas to my single scanner by way of a coax splitter? In other words, merge the two.

Before someone bites your head off on this let me first say welcome to Radioreference. This two antenna to one scanner and vice versa has been discussed at length here, there's a sticky on the top of the forum list. It's a long thread and many people have brought in lots of information. The short answer to your question, yes it can be done, might work ok but...(read the forums).
