It appears that UTSA police have switched over to the COSA/Bexar Co ProVoice radio system. I noticed that for some time I have not been able to hear UTSA police traffic. My fears were confirmed after talking to an officer who said they were now on the same system as the City of San Antonio.

I'm sure that is true. Given enough resources, most things are possible. However, for the averge Joe who has limited resources, and cannot afford a ProVoice radio or a computer dedicated to ProVoice, listening to ProVoice is not possible.

I'm glad you have the means and the technical expertiese to pull it off. Most of us dont. As far as I'm concerned, each agency that moves over to ProVoice is just one more I cannot listen to.

Yes, I would agree on the Average Joe listener not having the capabilities to monitor Pro-Voice. But, I have noticed that many LE agencies of questionable character such as San Antonio often use encryption or Pro-Voice. This is based on my opinion and the opinion of others (Texas Monthly).

When I worked for TDCJ-ID, the agency used to dump parolees in San Antonio, Lubbock, El Paso, Houston and Dallas for the most part. Later, they began returning offenders to the county where they fell.

On the other hand, I can see why Bexar county uses Pro-Voice. The Texas Syndicate, Mexican Mafia and other prison gangs flourish there. For the most part, LE officers are grossly outnumbered.

Hey Rockag41, I'd say both UTSA PD 1604 (155.7000 w/136.5 PL) and UTSA PD Downtown
(159.1050 w/123.0 PL) went to "No-Voice" TG's even before NEISD PD and Castle Hills PD did so
a few months ago.... btw ~ What Scanners do you use ? Any the same models the same as mine ?
ps ~ I had an older model on a week ago that does not have PL/DPL tones and I know I heard
on 159.1050 what sounded like APCO-25 Digital ( like DPS would sound on an analog scanner.
I was driving the high ramp taking 281S to 410E and did not happen to have a digital model with me :(
At the time I was thinking they perhaps kept their old freq as some kind of C2C/Tac/or backup Hmm ?

I lost NEISD before UTSA. I think NEISD moved first. Castle Hills was the latest.

We seem to be using different scanners. Here are my scanners:
Bearcat 220XL
Pro-94
Pro-95
396T

I have to admit I love my Pro-106 that logs hit counts, sure helps aid in solving
that issue of ... hmmm ... I wonder if that agency has been active in a while ?

ps ~ Give me a heads up and I can bring in my Pro-95 and we can swap data files.
I am always lQQking for new freqs and certainly sharing what I know to others.
Also, I work for RS on Walzem Road if I could ever be of assistance to you !
