I found a number of postings via a Bing search. One of them said something about menu 14.. It appears the radio reverts to Chinese after a reset.

Ah-so it speka Engrish
I've had one of those several month now , a 5R Plus. I don't remember the menu number off-hand but it will "speak" English easy enough to find online. I have a lot of fun with that little thing, monitor local 2 meter repeater and other traffic, fire, police, local hospital etc.
