If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Hi all, I am currently trying to program a Vertex VX824 UHF 450-490mhz unit. I was able to initially program the radio with frequencies with no problem. Then when I went to enable the option field for the VMDE-200 chip that I use for MDC1200 I get an error on the screen after the radio is written. I have tried several times to put a new codeplug in the radio but I am still having the same problem. I even tried program the frequencies in the radio with the option field left blank and I am not getting any RX audio and it will not TX. Can anyone give me any help or point me in the right direction? The radio has firmware 1.41 and I am using the latest version CPS 4.04.

First perform an "Adjustment Recovery" to see if it clears the error, located under Radio pull-down. If not verify if the option board is defective. Remove the rear panel and the VMDE-200 option board, if the error resets and RX/TX comes back, then the issue is the option board.
Also maybe not getting good contact with option board.
Last if less than 3 years old from purchase let Vertex deal with the issue.

Thank you for your help. The adjustment recovery seemed to work. The radio is now working properly with the board installed.
