• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Hello, I have a Vertex VX3200U I am wanting to use on conventional. The radio I have is the LTR trunking version. I've been told it's possible to make make this radio do conventional radio to radio like I need it to do. Has anyone here done this or be able to help me figure out this is done? I have CE52 that I use to program my VX2500 conventional. I also bought CE47 when I bought the VX2500 not knowing there are two different versions of the software but haven't used it of course since all I transmit on is conventional. Thank You!

Use CE-47 and you'll have 128 or 250 (can't remember which) conventional channels. The initial setup is a bit of a pain that a regular convention FM setup. I've used a VX-427A for this, but setup is almost identical. Yes, they will do HAM with a file mod.

Read the radio and save.
THEN modify that read file.
Start with the RF Ch.List (TX/RX and W/N)
Save the file with a new name.
Go to SYSTEM (same as zone/group) Enable that SYS name it and figure out how many channels you want (you can modify it later), set it to Conventional.
Then go to Groups and select the freqs you want in channel order and set your tones and everything else I've red dotted. Make sure TX Inhibit is set to TX Enable or no TX.
Advanced tab has talkaround/direct setting

Make sure to assign your buttons and your scan.

It doesn't offer 2-tone decode and there are a few other odd things.

Sounds good, thank you very much! I’ll give this a try next time I get a chance to try programming it, might be this weekend or could be sooner too depending on my work schedule. I’ll let you know how it goes though! Thank you again!!!

Got a chance to program the radio over the weekend and it worked perfectly. Thank you so much for helping me out with this! I can’t quite figure out how to get a scan list created though. That was my only problem. If you have any pointers on that I’d greatly appreciate that too!
