Around 7:00 PM EST the band opened up in south Florida. A cold front is stalled over are area. I'm about 40 miles north of Miami, all signals from there are off the wall.
Miami Center RCAG frequencies located in Pahokee Florida about 50 miles away are loud and clear. I'm intermittently hearing the RCAG frequencies in Melbourne Florida about 125 miles from me.

That's awesome. I love to DX and find new UHF and VHF ATC freqs. It's amazing what you can hear sometimes. I scan around the lower VHF air band and dig out DX ATIS and AWOS signals when conditions are good. UHF holds a good bit of DX opportunities also. I logged some 200 mile logs of UHF ATIS freqs. I have a 8db colinear vertical for UHF and dual phased 225-400Mhz log periodics. Fun stuff. I really like your VHF antennas. I have been kicking the idea around of a corner reflector type for VHF air.

Hi there, thanks for the reply. I’ve seen you’re past posts…fun stuff. The corner reflector was my go to antenna for the VHF side, in fact I’m still thinking of making one. The Quagi so far has got it beat. This past weekend I made a Quagi for the UHF side. It’s up only 20’ at the moment. So far I’ve only been able to hear two transmissions from a RCAG about 35 miles away. All the other UHF transmitters that are closer aren’t being used so the jury is still out on how good a job I did…will work on it. Maybe I’ll try to make a coliner!!

Yeah I am hearing some of the same things here. UHF is even enhanced. Hearing UHF RCAG's at over 100 miles. I seem to be getting better enhancement on UHF air than VHF air.

Hmmmm I'll check it out on my end. Hows that UHF corner reflector working?

I don't have them yet. I just got one paid for and on a truck to me. They are out in California. I should have one in my hands by the end of the coming week. I am setting a second small 20 foot tower to experiment with this antenna on. I have my phased logs and the corner reflectors that I am going to be playing around with more since the weather is getting nice. I some filters and different preamps that I have collected over the winter to throw in the mix too. I will post up some photos and some info when I get into all of it. Should be a powerful antenna system though when coupled with mast mounted preamp and filters.....

woke up around 6:00 AM local time...normal time for me when reception is good. VHF air local broadcasts are enhanced. Right now I'm receiving a VHF ATIS about 60 miles away- about 3 bars on my Icom and another ATIS 80 miles away with 2 bars. The tropo forecast looks promising for the next few days...in Georgia too.
