Hey guys,
I have a plethora of stand-alone scanners/receivers and the programming/controlling software for all of them.
One thing I am really interested in purchasing is a VHF/UHF SDR radio. I have tried the various dongles available and they're ok, but I was thinking more along the lines of the Winradio G305E, etc.. (not considering the AR-DV1 at this time). The reviews I've read about that receiver seem to be mixed, although I've not heard from anyone who actually has or uses one.
So, any suggestions?
Thanks in advance.

The Airspy is an excellent alternative at $199.00. I now also have an SDRPlay which I use when portable, and for $149.00 it does a nice job as well.

At home I have a RFSpace NetSDR with VHF/UHF downconverter. It's the best HF receiver I've ever had and it does well on VHF/UHF also, but I think the Airspy hangs right there with it in performance in that part of the RF spectrum.

Our SDR wiki has links to all of those that Scott mentioned, and many more, along with links to reviews (if we knew of them) and mailing lists.

This is one field that's expanding so rapidly, it's almost impossible to keep ahead of this, but you'll find a great deal of information is linked here...Mike

Thank you Scott and Mike. I've been doing some research and HOLY MACKERAL!!!!!!
I had no idea, none, that it would be this complicated. For some illogical and obviously uneducated reason, I thought the market had solidified to the point where I could compare products and shop. Mike, I now realize that it really is "impossible to keep ahead of this". At least for now. I've been reading the pro/con arguments in some of the RR forums and I may as well be trying to teach myself to speak Vietnamese.
Onward and upward, but this is going to be a bit more painful than I thought. Not simply finding the hardware and software with an awesome GUI!
Thanks guys. As usual RR is THE source for info.!
