• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Hello All. My agency is gradually updating our mobile fleet to the Viking VM7000 Series with the KCH 20 contol heads. I am still working through some of the programming idiosyncrasies.

My question is this: With regard to the button menu, in Armada, you can build multiple lines/pages of menu items and select with one of the 4 triangle buttons across the bottom of the head unit. What is the name of the key assignment to enable paging through these menus? I have the left button with the square icon assigned to access the main menu, but I don't see the option to "page through" the button menu items.

Thanks,
Mark

There is no page through, but there is second function, that is like a shift key.

Hi Evans. Thanks for the reply!
In Armada, it says you can add up to 10 "pages" of soft buttons. Any idea how you'd access those? I'm in the software now and I'm not even seeing a second function assignment. Now that I'm looking, I do see a "soft buttons left" and "soft buttons right" assignment. Perhaps that is it? I don't have a radio to test it with at the moment.

Yes, the "Soft Buttons Left"/"Soft Buttons Right" functions will cycle through each page of soft keys.

At least with the KCH-19, the circle (Select) button defaults to opening the menu when pressed and held. I use the square button (F2) to cycle through soft key pages.

There you go Mark, I dont have a VM viking to speak of, but like the portable, you can menu the soft pages and toggle through.
The VP8K, the D pad allows me to scroll through the various soft menus i built for it.

Thanks gang for jumping in with the info.
