went out to Enchanted Rock Sunday on what otherwise would have been an dull, hot day...until...
some woman fell 30 feet into a crevice and we all got to watch Careflight (or was it Starflight?) land on the rock and the crew help extract her out with the aid of the Frediricksburg FD!
all i had was a puny VX-1 that i had just programmed the night before, so i only got to hear Enchanted Rock personnel on TP ch7, and the mutu-aid that the FD used on scene.
never did hear the chopper, but the VX-1 requires you to change "bands" if you want to scan memories in UHF as opposed to VHF, and i was too busy sweating buckets in the heat to fiddle with a barbie-sized radio!
anyway, here are some pics your "roving reporter" took with a crappy 1 mp phone-cam:

and if you look closely at this one, you'll notice the tail rotor inbetween the trucks:

woman-in-question fell down a 30 foot crevice we call "the chimney" and apparently broke her leg at the shin - the chopper responded out of austin, and the fd crew stabilized her and they basketted her up, out, and into the parking lot where she was further treated and taken back to town.
the propwash from the helicopter was a welcome event in the Texas heat!
