I've spent more time trying to figure out scanning in Cook county than I have for my entire trip through Ohio & Indiana. Whew we have it good in WV (OH & IN are almost as good), almost everyone is on one system. That being said, I'm visiting Berwyn next month and I'd like to have something in the scanner. It looks like law enforcement is encrypted, I see fire on 155.2425, is that how they operate, one frequency? I'm not sure what they have for EMS. Any local scanning tips for the area?

I'm looking at this page for Berwyn

That's about it. Most surrounding towns are encrypted. Forest View and Stickney to the south are monitorable, in addition to State Police. Not sure how far you're looking to monitor, but this page can be helpful:

Can anyone actually confirm if Forestview and Stickney are on that 800MHz P25 frequency? I can't pick it up even though I can hear the CCD VHF freq, but I am a bit far from there.

Thanks for the feedback.

The fire department was pretty quiet over the weekend, we didn't venture far, I was just visiting my sister who moved up that way about 3 years ago. While we were out we saw a couple of Oak Park Police cruisers speeding off to somewhere, I was robbed at the farmers market, but I doubt it was for that, I mean, I did get a cheese sandwich.
