Hey gang.
Just spent the better part of 14 hours transitioning my three bcfy calls feeds from SDRTrunk to trunk-recorder. SDRTrunk is very polished and works out of the box but is a resource hog for sure. Not a dig at Denny, I love SDRTrunk but I needed to switch over to a "mini-PC" instead of what I had, and I noticed under heavy load I was dropping calls (verified this by talking to a dispatcher).
I have TR set up finally but I'm having a few issues. I've done searches, I've asked Gemini to help me and I've played with and tweaked settings. The issues are:
#1 I'm noticing quite a few calls with the src ID of -1. This is usually accompanied by a burst of noise before the transmission. It *feels like* the decoder isn't closing the file before another TG gets received.
#2 I've had a few calls that show in the log as "GROUP MISMATCH - Recorder TG: 10790 Received TG: 10606" (example), and occasionally I've had a "Expected TDMA TG but got FDMA" (paraphased, and I think I fixed this with signal handling, see below).
Things I've done to try and fix this:
Used GQRX to find the right gain level for the dongles so there's good signal on all the sites, and no overloading of the front end (around 25-30dB for my dongles and my set-up). Used GQRX to find out the frequency error to the nearest Hz and adjust the tuner in the config file.
Switched out some ancient V2 RTL-SDRs to V3 and 4 dongles.
I don't know if it matters but I have 9 decoders per dongle set up - I'm obviously not using that many but I don't see this being an issue anyway.
Any thoughts?
Dave.
