• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

Since Zetron has discontinued the manufacture of the Model 1516 Sentrivoice unit, I was wondering if anyone knows who may make a similar device?
I would appreciate any info anyone has.

Thanks

We just made an inquiry on three items. The reply we got was all three are discontinued. The model 1550 cannot be ordered, however the model 1516 and the model 18 CAN be still manufactured so I guess they can be ordered. Check with your Zetron rep. Bummer 'cuz they are in the price list from July this year.

I called them and they said that those items are no longer available and no orders will be taken

I have been researching this issue for a while as I have a customer with at least one SentriVoice that is dead and was used to announce Lightning detection Warnings over a radio Talk Group (Channel).

I have identified three potentials so far -

* - DNA-510 - Viking Electronics, Inc.
I like this one as I can send a message when an event happens and a separate message when it clears. However, the number of IOs is limited.

* - 8301 IP Paging Adapter & Scheduler This has only a single contact and no ability to send a clear.

* - Build a custom application with a Text-to-speech back end like AWS Poly. (Maybe around an Asterisk server.) IO interface would depend on the number of interface points but I like SeaLevel for larger products Digital I/O and Analog I/O Products - Sealevel

Good luck and update us all on what you decide.

I received a call from my Zetron rep and the good news is that they will be announcing a replacement for the sentrivoice the first quarter of 2025. I don't have all the details yet but that is great to hear. Any update and I'll post it here.

I was just wondering if Zetron had confirmed anything to you concerning a possible replacement for the sentriVoice unit?

Following...Have contacted Zetron a couple of times about the M1517 since it was discontinued, basically could only leave an inquiry. Last inquiry was one week ago. Never got a call back with any information on a possible replacement.

I contacted them the other day and was told that the replacement Sentrivoice was in the testing stage and nothing further,
I will call my contact in a couple of weeks and see when this item will be available.

Took a few months but I just received brand spanking new M18, M1512, and M1516. I wanted a M1550 Sentri Max but I guess those are truly NLA. I going to screw the M1512 and M1516 together to do what I want.

Keep banging on your reps and you might get good news.

I spoke to the lady that manages my territory Laura from Wisconsin . She stated that there was something in the works. A company named Swiss phone is testing it. Might be a while but it is being looked at. Also I have some additional folks I am going to talk to and also the companies mentioned in this thread. It’s bad when something works so damn good that they cancel it and it was a really simple product just to begin with and extremely durable and now we have to reinvent the wheel.

Here's a device that can sorta be used instead of a Sentrivoice although it's intended as a fire station alert.

Controlled by radio (DTMF or 2-tone)
Controlled by 6 inputs
8 relay outputs
MP3 audio from SD card plays to line out or transmit from radio.
Does a lot more.

Morning all,

Two updates, I got this note back from Zetron today
The M1516 has reached end of life and there are no plans to breath new life into the product.

Thanks and have a great day!

Additionally, I had a long talk with Brian at 911 Systems LLC. I am convinced that this is the perfect solution to the mess Zetron has
created by not delivering a next-generation product to replace these units. Of course, the company has changed hands three (?) times in the past few years so I guess we should not be surprised.,

Thank you, @ramal121 for the intro and link.

At IWCE I spoke to the product manager and he said that as of now, sad to say, there will not be a replacement for the unit.
I don't know why the inside sales person at Zetron told me that there was going to be a replacement that was in the works either.
I'll call him next week.
