I have a few older Motorola keynote voice pagers that have my biz freq in them and they operate off the 2 different tones to set them off and make them beep before the voice message. I am wondering if i have a radio with a keypad is there a way to set them off without having to sign up with a paging service again?

If you have a radio with Quick Call II, then you can set off the pagers. You'd need to know the actual tones to program into the radio.

As far as the keypad goes, those only generate DTMF tones, which are not the same as QCII tones.

Yeah, you would need to know what tones to use. If you know the frequency/duration/sequence, you could also generate the tones in Audacity and get the transmitter to play them back somehow (tape loop? Computer file?) at the start of the transmission.

Just a thought.

@rescue161--

Do any radios have "programmable" keyboards that can be set to trigger different single frequencies or are they all DT/MF?

That, I don't know. On a radio that is capable, you'd access the tones that you want to send via a menu, not the DTMF pad.
